Housing & Roads
Housing: NVE has a variety of housing programs
designed to assist low-income tribal members. NVE can assist with
homebuyer counseling, homeownership, and referral services. NVE is
currently establishing a transitional housing program.
A Housing Emergency is an event that may cause
an eligible tribal member to become homeless, live in an unsafe, over
crowded or hazardous environment, some utilities in cases of shut-off
notification, or need assistance for emergency repairs.
Applicant must exhaust all other resources in
the community before requesting assistance from NVE. The applicant is
limited to one request for assistance every three years. You must fill
out an application documenting the need and the amount requested, up to
a limit of $700.00. All applicants receiving emergency funds are
required under NASDA rules to return a copy of their receipts into the
NVE office in Eklutna Village.
The applicant must be low to very low-income.
Preference will be given to an enrolled Native Village of Eklutna Tribal
Member. An applicant will qualify for Tribal Preference in the following
order:
a. Native Village of Eklutna Tribal Member
b. Full
c. Adoptive
d. Honorary

Roads Program: Through BIA "Indian Reservation Roads" Program, NVE
has begun the Long Range Transportation Plan which will include maps and
a narrative description resulting from a series of planning meetings
with the Traditional Tribal Council of NVE and the Board of Directors of
Eklutna, Inc., (as well as interested Tribal Members and Shareholders of
the Corporation). The Plan will include research on current and future
land uses within the planning area. This Plan will look at residential,
economic, industrial, recreational, commercial and other such uses of
the land within the planning area. Foremost, it will look at ways for
the Native people of the Tribe to maintain their traditional way of life
while living in an urban environment. Native Village of Eklutna
Traditional Tribal Council hereby prioritizes its road inventory
consistent with Tribal Member designation and includes the routes not
excluding "Indian Chief Road" a road beginning at a point connecting
with "Eklutna Village Road", heading northwest and intersecting again
with "Eklutna Village Road" at its point of ending.
